Good reasons to be tested for sexually transmitted infections would be to stop the transmission of infections so that you don’t add to the pool of the growing pool of infection that is out there.

I think it also lets you confidently re-assure your partner that you don’t have any infection that they may actually have or take on and I think the other thing is you can then demonstrate to your partners that you have shown some responsibility and respect within your relationships that you are about to engage in.

Piece of mind I think is very important but it is also part of looking after one’s sexual health and making sure that you are ok and everyone else is ok. So it is taking a degree of responsibility for it too.

If you don’t know that you’ve got it then you can't get the treatment for it so you have to go and get a test to know you’ve got it. Some sexually transmitted infections can cause long-term damage if they’re not treated so the earlier you pick it up the better.

Good contraception means that people are perhaps free-er to experiment sexually and have multiple partners and the trouble is these multiple partners also have multiple partners and therefore there is a chance of sexually transmitted infection and the snag is these infections are often hidden. Women particularly have often no symptoms or symptoms that they might ignore and therefore they can be affecting their partners without knowing anything about it.

The vast majority of them are easy to treat. So it is really important to come and get something that is very simple to deal with it and then you don’t have to worry about it.
